Performing a search on Google right now for the Simplified Chinese "谷歌" reveals nothing about Google, but several pages that it translates as "Valley Song." Apparently, the actual meaning of the name is literally "song of the harvest of grain." Will Google's audience be receptive to the name change? Google thinks so.

The idea behind using a Chinese name helps the company reach more Chinese users, many of whom do not know English and have difficulties pronouncing the name, which prevents them from knowing and using the search engine, the newspaper said.
